KTEG KMC1200S: New demolition excavator for PORR Becker Abbruchtechnik GmbH

The KTEG KMC1200S, one of the largest demolition excavators in Europe, marks the start of an impressive project for PORR in Germany. This giant will be used at the decommissioned power plant in Voerde, North Rhine-Westphalia, to dismantle the facility. The decisive selling point was the comprehensive range of customised solutions offered by Kiesel & KTEG.

Gregor Scherleitner, authorised signatory at PORR Becker Abbruchtechnik GmbH, emphasises: "The requirement of our machine foremen was to order a machine of this size, with the greatest possible reach and the largest possible attachment. With the KMC1200S, we have a demolition machine that fulfils these requirements exactly."

The planned project involves the demolition of 5 million cubic metres of enclosed space and the movement of over 100,000 tonnes of steel. These impressive figures illustrate the challenges and dimensions of this endeavour.

Technical details of the KTEG KMC1200S

With a reach height of 28 metres and an attachment weight of up to 15 tonnes, the KTEG KMC1200S is perfectly designed for the demolition of large-volume structures. The 190-tonne excavator has a newly designed boom with a 3-metre extension and a 6-metre stick.

The DXS90 scrap shear and the OQ120 quick coupler complete the equipment and make the machine the ideal tool for demolition work.
